Just another Saturday with FLAF

Aberdeen and Hibs lads leaflet Pittodrie

Pittodrie

On Saturday October 5th, at the Aberdeen v Hibs fixture at Pittodrie fans from both clubs handed out about 400 FLAF leaflets at both ends of the ground. This started off at the away end with the Aberdeen lads moving round the Main Stand to leaflet more home fans later. The leaflets were generally well received and no hostile remarks or attitudes were observed by anyone leafleting. The event was organised to coincide with Show Racism The Red Card. An official announcement over the tannoy at kick off, reminded fans that football should be an inclusive sport and football grounds should be welcoming for ethnic minorities, with zero tolerance of bigotry.

Local FLAF groups will be leafleting other grounds as we aim to support fellow fans who want to make football a no go area for fascists and racist bigotry.

Newcastle

We got wind that Tommy Robinson wannabe Danny Tommo and cronies were heading to the North East to support an event tomorrow and just so happened to coincide with the Corbyn rally in Newcastle. A couple of us popped along on the off chance he’d show his face. One of the lads clocked him around the rally venue but lost sight. A couple of other local Anti Fascist activists confirmed  the sighting and that they suspected he was in the queue. We walked the long line wrapped around two blocks with no luck. We were approached by a copper who was adamant there were no trouble makers around which was clearly not to be taken at face value. His face was a picture when we hinted at who was around. We joined the queue as we had tickets to get in and noticed a few dodge pots but weren’t certain they were fash then as we were 20 yards from the doors one of the Sunderland FLAF lads spotted Danny Tommo walking by the venue in cap and glasses. We shouted him over for a chat… it was only a chat as a copper appeared very quickly. He was told he wasn’t welcome in the North East and reminded he was a little gimp. Fuck off Danny Tommo! This was a very discreet intervention and measured as we always are.
